Oblique, red on yellow (2021)

This series is based on a square made up of 12 x 12 small circles grouped together & repeatedly offset at a 45 degree angle with varying colour combinations. There is a strong architectural element to the composition as oblique projection is a method of drawing showing various aspects of a building or object at the same time.

A series of ribbon-like forms which are turned over on themselves showing the underside. In this case, five separate red ribbons are shown in ascending and descending order with pink underside. The values of the red and pink are intentionally made close, providing an op-art look.

Double Interlocking Ribbons (2021)

perspex with  spray acrylic paint.

A series of ribbon-like forms which are turned over on themselves showing the underside. In this case, two separate blue and peach ribbons are turned to show the respective orange and white undersides. I have an interest in western, eastern and middle eastern calligraphy, and this piece has a calligraphic feel.

Distressed Geometry.jpg
Distressed Geometry (2021)

85 x 85cm (33.5 x 33.5ins) framed,
perspex with acrylic & spray acrylic paint.

Geometry is integral to the initial concept in much of my work. This piece is a mix of intersecting squares, circles and triangles with a touch of distress which messes up the geometrical layout, providing imperfection.
